work
I am the Manager, Business Application Services and Enterprise Architecture in the Information Technology Services department at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
In Sept 2007, I assumed the responsibility for the Business Application Services group in IT Services. This is a group of 24 IT professionals who have responsibility for delivering Business and Learning Applications as well as Identity, Email, Calendaring and Messaging Services. We are building on Business Analysis and Project Management methodologies too. I am very excited about the opportunity and will be leveraging the work we have done with Enterprise Architecture to lead this talented group of professionals.
Now for a bit on EA. Since April 2005, I built a strategic practice in EA and worked to integrate it into the culture and processes of the Institute. As a publicly funded higher education institution, we make conscious decisions to “Do the Right Things” and the “Do Things Right”.
Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a strategic framework to provide guidance, consultation and approval of IT investments in people, process and technology that aligns and supports Institutional Strategy and Vision.
The benefits of adopting EA at BCIT are :
- Alignment of IT to BCIT’s Education, Research and Business Strategy – “Doing the Right Things”
- Improved Planning and Reduced Complexity – “Doing Things Right”
