My New Adventure

by | August 2, 2012

My new adventure begins! Last week, I accepted a 2 year contract as the Director of Information Technology at the American University of Sharjah in the Emirate of Sharjah  in the United Arab Emirates.  Sharjah is one of seven emirates that are federated together to form the United Arab Emirates and is adjacent to Dubai.

This was a huge decision for my family and I can’t thank them enough for their love and support especially my wife Dawn.

I am very thankful for the 20 years I spent at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) building relationships, skills and experience.  I will miss working on a daily basis with the great friends and colleagues I have there.  If you ever get a chance to work for BCIT, take it!

The best part of living in the digital age is that I am just an email, tweet or Skype chat ( away from connecting with you.   I hope to keep up our connections and hope you have time to keep me updated.   I will be +11 hours ahead of PST so we will need to do some planning so I don’t wake you in the middle of the night!

There is so much to get done before I start my new position and I plan regular postings about my new adventure.  Stay tuned, this is going to be a fun and new adventure!

Wonderful opportunity! Congratulations. I’ve had many colleagues who have spent time in the UAE and come back with amazing stories and incredible memories. Can’t wait to hear yours.

Way to go Leo! What an awesome opportunity. I have neighbours who ‘commute’ back and forth from there each year. Looking forward to hearing about your adventure.
