My New EA Opportunity

by | September 6, 2015

I am taking on a new opportunity on Sept 14, 2015 that gets me back to working on Enterprise Architecture!

After 23 years working in higher education IT, I decided to accept an opportunity to work for the City of Vancouver Information Technology Department.

I am really honoured to be selected as the Senior Manager, Technology Planning reporting to the CIO.  I am looking forward to support the CIO and help to deliver on the City of Vancouver’s Digital Strategy.  The Digital Strategy has the following goals for the years 2013 to 2016:

  • Enhance how you engage with and access the City through online, mobile, and social media channels
  • Improve and expand our digital infrastructure
  • Support and strengthen Vancouver’s digital economy

I will still be teaching as an Adjunct Faculty member at the Vancouver Campus of the New York Institute of Technology and a Graduation Project Advisor for the British Columbia Institute of Technology.  It will be interesting to experience how faculty members interact and experience how IT is delivered to support their teaching.

It has been a great ride for 23 years in higher education and especially at BCIT and my last day is Friday September 11, 2015.  I don’t have the words to properly thank the amazing people I have worked with at BCIT and in the higher education community around the world.  My BCIT Information Technology Services colleagues and I implemented all the major enterprise and most of the departmental systems that support BCIT’s mission over the last two decades.  Along the way, we got married, had children, shared our losses and became great friends.  I also got to travel the world to work in Canada, the United States and the United Arab Emirates.  The connections I made over the past 23 years will stay with me for the rest of my life!

All I can say is Thank You to all the great people I have had the privilege to work with!
